Lucius Vipstanus Poplicola : ウィキペディア英語版 | Lucius Vipstanus Poplicola Lucius Vipstanus Poplicola Messalla〔Morgan, Gwyn, ''69 A.D.: The Year Of Four Emperors'' (2006), pg. 283〕 (c. 10 - aft. 59) was a Roman politician who was Roman consul in AD 48. ==Biography== It is assumed that Vipstanus Poplicola was the son of Lucius Vipstanus Gallus and a Valeria Messalla. He was elected ''consul ordinarius'' in AD 48, alongside Aulus Vitellius. He was replaced as consul by the ''consul suffectus'' Gaius Vipstanus Messalla Gallus, who is postulated to have been his brother.〔Christian Settipani. ''Continuité gentilice et continuité sénatoriale dans les familles sénatoriales romaines à l'époque impériale'', 2000〕 In 58 or 59, Vipstanus Poplicola was appointed Proconsular governor of Asia.〔Laale, Hans Willer, ''Ephesus (Ephesos): An Abbreviated History from Androclus to Constantine XI'' (2011), pg. 198〕 According to the historian Ronald Syme, Vipstanus Poplicola's son was Gaius Valerius Poplicola, who was coopted into a sacerdotal college in AD 63, but died sometime after.〔Syme, Ronald, ''The Augustan Aristocracy'' (1986), pgs. 241-242〕
